AN ENERGISING NEW LOOK
“Going home with MORE energy at the end of the day.”
says Ronal van Es, CFO @Macaw
Tech company Macaw required an office that reflected its innovative ideas. We came up with a vivid circular concept that reused approximately 60% of Macaw’s existing furniture. Other pieces were sourced through our network (and extensive knowledge of the secondhand furniture market). Many of the accessories came from local community thrift shops.
“We visited a thrift shop with D/DOCK designers and bought most pieces on the spot,” Sabrina van Dongen says. We reupholstered desk chairs and cut sofas in half to create two separate armchairs to furnish a lounge on a small stage. The transparent voile curtain gives the space privacy.
The six-metre wooden tabletop also tells a special story. It was made from flooring material sourced from a school gymnasium in Venlo. The team took approximately 70 metres of the old flooring and sawed it in pieces. The original colours of this floor – blue, red, green and yellow feature in the table’s coloured wooden blocks. We sourced a vintage dresser for reception and added yellow cabinet doors, and we’re very proud of the industrial-style bar counter.
